September 23, 2020
Dear United North Families:
Beginning on Monday, September 28, students enrolled as A or B days students will begin attending Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday until 12:30 p.m. These families do have the option of moving to full remote learning at this time. Please notify us at your earliest convenience if you intend to exercise this option.
Families with students enrolled as full remote learners have the option to attend four days per week beginning on Monday, October 19, which is the start of the second quarter. Please notify us by October 9 if you intend for your student(s) to exit remote learning for the four day option.
Remote learners will be required to remain as such until the end of the second quarter, December 18.
Please read the important information below.
-Masks are still required. Breaks will continue to be implemented. Temperature checks will continue upon entry into the building. Social distancing will be enforced whenever possible.
-Wednesday is a full remote learning day for all students. Attendance must be submitted remotely as with any other remote day and work will need to be completed. All specials classes will be part of the remote learning schedule on Wednesdays at this point.
-Due to still being on a shortened schedule, your child may have work to complete beyond in-person school hours.
-Lunches will be sent home daily. Two lunches will be sent on Tuesday. A snack will also be sent home with the second lunch on Tuesday to account for Wednesday’s snack. Please discuss the importance of leaving the food in the back pack and not eating on the bus.
-All K-2nd students will receive lunches. 3rd-5th grade students will be asked if they need a lunch each morning similar to the traditional lunch count. Please contact the school at your earliest convenience if you do not want your child to receive lunch.
-Meals for remote learners may be picked up on Wednesdays from 4:00-6:00 p.m. upon signing up. This process will remain the same as in the past.
-Students will have their morning snack between 8:30 and 11:00 depending on the grade level. This will be done observing social distancing outside or in the cafeteria or library. Snacks will consist of milk/water and a cereal/granola bar, etc. Due to breakfast not being served at the beginning of the morning, we highly encourage families to feed children before arriving at school.
-In order to maximize in class instruction and maintain social distancing, grade level students will have P.E. class two days per week and recess two days per week at the same time.
-The bus routes and assignments do not change. Expect buses to be arriving between five and ten minutes earlier than the current time.
Afternoon dismissal:
-Shuttle bus departure: 12:20 p.m.
-Pick up/walkers: 12:30 p.m. at the back West door following the same procedure to date.
-Route bus: 12:40 p.m.
Sincerely,
Maggie J. Wallace
