Many will know me as first grade Mrs. Kitchin, but this year I am headed to fifth grade. I retired from United in 2020, the year of COVID. However, even after retiring I have not been a stranger to United North. After retirement, I was a part-time reading interventionist and a permanent substitute teacher.
Monmouth is home for myself, husband Gary and our rescue dog Lenny. I have been blessed with four children (2 girls, 2 boys), one daughter-in-law, two son-in-laws, and two grandchildren. As they are all involved in the livestock industry they keep me very busy attending livestock shows. Also, I enjoy reading, riding my bike, traveling, and taking care of my yard and flowers.
I obtained a degree in Education from Monmouth College and later went back to receive a Master’s Degree from St. Ambrose University. In addition, I have a middle school endorsement and am certified in Reading Recovery. Interesting fact: the students who will be fifth graders this year are the class I retired from. So, I feel I am truly blessed to be able to spend more time with these students and all the students and staff of United North 💕
(Mrs. Kitchin will be teaching fifth grade for the first semester and we are SO excited to have her back!!!)
